Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Gulf Asia Solutions

Since our inception in 1971, Gulf Asia Solutions (GAS) has grown from a local engineering and construction company into a global industry leader, establishing a strong presence across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Our early growth was closely tied to Singapore’s rapid industrialization in the 1970s. Alongside our business expansion, we have embedded a deep commitment to giving back to society, supporting the underprivileged through donations, sponsorships, and volunteerism.

Our ongoing efforts include:

  • Humanitarian aid and disaster relief fundraising

  • Bursary grants for tertiary students in Singapore

  • Active volunteerism to support various social causes

Commitment to Volunteerism

Volunteerism is a cornerstone of our corporate responsibility. We strive to connect with communities beyond our business operations and foster a culture of public service within our workforce. Through partnerships with charitable organizations, GAS employees regularly engage in volunteer initiatives, reinforcing our dedication to social welfare.

Community Initiatives

Supporting the Elderly and Vulnerable Communities

  • Our employees have volunteered to deliver meals to elderly residents in Jurong and surrounding neighborhoods.

  • In December 2020, GAS extended support to beneficiaries of Metta Welfare Association, gifting essential items during SG Cares Giving Week.

Supporting Migrant Workers During COVID-19

Migrant workers play an essential role in our labor-intensive construction industry. During the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, when infections surged in worker dormitories, GAS:

  • Sent messages of support to boost the morale of both healthcare workers and frontline site workers.

  • Ensured safe and continued operations while prioritizing worker well-being.

Meals-on-Wheels: A Joint Initiative with Touch Home Care

In 2020, GAS partnered with Touch Home Care to launch the Meals-on-Wheels initiative, delivering hot meals to homebound elderly residents in Jurong and nearby areas. This program has since evolved into a trimonthly initiative, with dedicated volunteers ensuring that meals reach those in need.

How It Works:

  • Volunteers gather at Touch Home Care for a briefing on safety protocols.

  • Split into teams of two, they pack and deliver meals to around 15 households per team.

  • Meals are hung by doors or windows, but volunteers often take the time to chat with elderly residents, bringing smiles and warmth to both sides.

Volunteer Testimonials

Ms. Tan Hui Xin, Corporate Communications Executive (June 2022):
“This experience was eye-opening. I hadn’t fully realized how much the elderly relied on us until I met someone struggling with mobility. Seeing is believing—I’m grateful to help and will definitely return!”

Ms. Helena Chua, Corporate Secretary (September 2022):
“Despite the rain delaying deliveries, we remained committed. It was rewarding to take time off work to contribute. I hope GAS continues fostering a spirit of giving and volunteerism.”

Mr. Derick Lim, General Manager, Finance Division (September 2022):
“Battling bad weather didn’t stop us from reaching our 15-household target. Seeing the elderly smile as they received their meals was the greatest reward.”

A Heartfelt Thank You

We extend our gratitude to all our volunteers for their dedication, enthusiasm, and generosity. Your contributions continue to foster a strong sense of community and uphold GAS’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.
